PASSIONATE ABOUT LIFE

August Renoir, the French impressionist painter, suffered from rheumatism late in life. His affliction was so intense that he painted while sitting in a chair and being moved about as he directed.
Holding a brush was extremely painful. Yet he continued to paint, and despite the crippling illness, created several masterpieces. To watch Renoir struggle was painful itself. One day a friend asked him,” why do you torture yourself? You have already produced scores of wonderful paintings. “Renoir looked at one of his canvasses and replied, “the pain passes but the beauty remains.”

KOREAN BANK PLAYS MATCH MAKER

Hana Bank, one of the top banks of South Korea is playing match maker for its employees. The bank is sending 20 single females between 29 and 33 years age groups on a blind date trip to North Korea with the hope that romance will make them happier at the office and increase efficiency. The single South Korean men to accompany were selected by the leading matrimonial match making agency. Yang Joe-Hyeok head of the banks division for life services for employees said that the trip will provide them the opportunity to easily meet men.

The programmes are now being offered to middle and elementary schools and reaching the diverse ethnic finest generation Asian children in the U.S.
This helps students think of entrepreneurship, finance, marketing and expands their horizons to choose carrier options, make business plans, talk to investors and venture capitalists.
The billionaires are backing this effort and want all the schools in the U.S to teach business ethics to create business leaders instead of creating firefighters, plumbers, veterinaries and electricians.
National foundation for teaching entrepreneurship sponsors its programmes for students between the age groups of 11 years to 18 years in the U.S.
Comments –
It is a good idea like gurukuls of Indians in the ancient times where the warrior kings were trained saint teachers. But the numbers were restricted in the country as per the guru’s choice.
These large numbers can create completion and stress among the young ones.

Perceive Nothing is Maha Nirvana

THE QUESTION WAS ASKED OF ZEN MASTER HYAKUJO:

“THERE IS A SUTRA WHICH SAYS THAT NOT TO PERCEIVE ANYTHING IN TERMS OF BEING OR NON-BEING IS TRUE DELIVERANCE. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?” HYAKUJO RESPONDED: “WHEN WE ATTAIN TO PURITY OF MIND, THAT IS SOMETHING WHICH CAN BE SAID TO EXIST. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, OUR REMAINING FREE FROM ANY THOUGHT OF ACHIEVEMENT IS CALLED NOT PERCEIVING ANYTHING AS EXISTENT. REACHING THE STATE IN WHICH NO THOUGHTS ARISE OR PERSIST, YET WITHOUT BEING CONSCIOUS OF THEIR ABSENCE, IS CALLED NOT PERCEIVING ANYTHING AS NON-EXISTENT. “THE Surangama SUTRA SAYS, PERCEPTIONS EMPLOYED AS A BASE FOR BUILDING UP POSSIBLE CONCEPTS ARE THE ORIGIN OF ALL IGNORANCE. PERCEPTION THAT THERE IS NOTHING TO PERCEIVE — THAT IS NIRVANA, ALSO KNOWN AS DELIVERANCE.”

A QUESTION WAS ASKED, “WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THE PHRASE `NOTHING TO PERCEIVE’?”

Hyakujo, even before becoming a master, has already become enlightened. It is not necessary for every enlightened being to become a master. Most of the enlightened beings have remained silent, for the simple reason, that to say the truth is to annoy the whole world. And not to say the truth, one feels like one has betrayed oneself. The situation of an enlightened man is a very difficult situation. He has all the blessings, and all the joys, but there is a problem: he cannot communicate it to those who are moving in darkness, in blindness. And the trouble is, with enlightenment arises great compassion and love spontaneously. So the enlightened person tries to help in every possible way, creates devices, even tells lies to help you to come to the truth. Very few enlightened people are articulate, because that is a totally different expertise. So they remain silent, although their silence becomes heavy on them. They become sad because they cannot communicate. They know the truth, and that somebody is searching for it, but they cannot even indicate the way. They feel helpless. A few people who became enlightened remained silent for a few years, just pondering over the problem of communion. That was the case with Hyakujo. He became enlightened, and waited for the right moment when he had found the right words, the right devices which can help somebody.
