YOUTH – SCHOOL LIFE SKILLS PROGRAMME
The Delhi state government which is the capital of India has under its able leadership of the state capitals Chief Minister Mrs. Sheila Dikshit launched a very dynamic programme for the children studying in the schools of the capital. This programme is known as Yuva (youth) school life skills programme (Slp) .based on the 10 core life skills.
The earlier yuva adolescence education progamme which was launched in the year 2005 has been trailed in schools throughout Delhi in the last one year and 55,000 teachers, principals and officers have been trained under this. Based on this feedback the programme has been modified and relaunched as yuva life skills programme (Slp).
The Yuva ,Slp seeks to make learning joyful , meaningful and interesting equipping students with the skills required to be responsible, productive and healthy , and happy citizens .Slp incorporates (learning through multimedia) self defense ,yoga language , meditation, laughter , reading cultural activities, language, development skills, how to cope with stress and tension, improving academic excellence and adolescence education.
The 10 core life skills are self awareness, empathy, critical thinking, creative thinking, decision, making, problem solving, and effective communication, interpersonal relationship, coping with stress, and coping with emotions.
This is a remarkable programme introduced in the schools as it will determine the quality of citizens we are creating for tomorrow. All human beings are great assets and they only define the future of a nation. Having the above mentioned qualities and skills we can create universal citizens who can one day build a universal government in this new age technology oriented global village.
One can imagine a beautiful, abundant and affluent society of universal citizens.
Past we know present is now, future does not exist and therefore every next moment or the future we perceive.
Present is the mirror reflection of the past in a new dimension, but the fact remains that the past does repeat itself.
The idea of writing the above observations is that this programme Slp is the mirror reflection of the past. The ancient India used to have very high quality education, universities like Nalanda and Takshila along with fine tuned schools which were by and large boarding schools The schools were known as Gurukuls, had all the skill sets and more than 10core life skills in the curriculum to groom independent self confident multiskilled professional leaders.
However we congratulate Mrs. Sheila Dikshit the Chief Minister of the Delhi State, that is the capital of India for introducing this valuable programme in the state run schools.
All other schools in the world should take a lead from this Yuva Slp to introduce the above in their schools for the great cause of creating high quality universal citizens. All schools and education institutions who require assistance for this programme can contact the site help them put in contact with the state of Delhi, India.
